I think I'm not the only one here. Some of my closest friends feel like this a lot of the time. I suspect it's a teenage phase - something we have to go through in order to grow up, to become who we are supposed to become... US.
Honestly, I really don't have a clue why I wrote up there,I guess it was just waiting there to be said.

It made me stop and contemplate some things, alone and so on. It made me want to become and author. It made me want to have EXPERIENCES, TO LIVE LIFE, TO MAKE IT PERFECT, TO FALL IN LOVE AND TO HAVE NO REGRETS!

I keep listening to this one song over and over and over, daydreaming and imagining things. I know I shouldn't but I just can't help myself. Truthfully, I'm just harming myself more by thinking about these things than if I wasn't, I have to get used to it - that's just how it is :c

Over the last 24-48 hours, I think I have developed the fastest growing obsession of the century(Okay, that's a slight exaggeration, but you get the point).

Some of you may think that it's late for me to be discovering such an iconic band in my life, however, I assure you - I've heard of them before, it's just that I didn't appreciate their music and their unique sound like I do now.

 

Both of my parents were huge fans, and yesterday over Skype (I'm in Poland, my dad in England) I just randomly started 'The Smiths' topic with my dad and...

We talked for ages about them, he even recommended me a few of his favourite songs from their album - 'The Queen is Dead'!!!

If I can even say this, I'm still at the stage where everything is work in progress (metaphorically speaking). I need a few days to actually listen to more of their songs, and to all you guys out there who use your System 1's too often here's TWO CRUCAL TIPS:

1. Whenever hearing a new song, give it a chance before categorising it into a YES or NO box. Allegedly, you have to listen to a piece of music at least 5 times to actually know if you like it or not.

Learning.

Writing comes as a gift. I wish I could write posts everyday, but even if I had the time to, there wouldn't be any sense - I'd have nothing to input in your lives.

Over the last week, I've mostly had good days :) My friends have been a great help in this and I try to keep myself occupied a lot of the time, so that I can't physically think about my so-called 'problems'. THERE'S ONE TIP FOR YOU <3 and I'm sure you guys have this feeling from time2time too...

Saturday was interesting. I went to Seamus Heaney's memorial poet meeting thingy and learnt a LOT. My mum kind of made me go, in the end, I'm really glad. Already, reading a bit of Joseph's O'Connor's 'The shorter Irish male' I managed to bump into a reference. The feeling was, well, what it was - nice! I'm sure most of you have this from time to time. It just makes you smile for a change :)

Seamus Heaney was a Noble Prize Winner and was born in Ireland. His poems are worth reading, I strongly recommend them. Link right here.. you're just one click away!

The Darkroom Experience.

Today, my photography fanatic side will be emerging in front of your eyes. I had the fabulous opportunity (just for today) to explore the magical DARKROOM <3 I feel in love with it instantly, and though it was for a few minutes, I understand the addiction artists can begin in the enclosed space. I'm grateful to the city of Krakow for organising this unique event ----> Malopolska Noc Naukowcow; a night where anyone, and I mean anyone, can explore different sciences, arts - anything that links in with the Universities in Cracow :)

Two monks and a young girl

Today, I thought I might continue the philosophy enlightenment cycle I planned to continue, seeing as it could both ''enlighten'' my life and yours :)

This story is also from my Philosophy Book, it's one of my favourites because it proves a point in a clear and simple way - no fuss whatsoever. This is a famous zen story ------>

 

 

A senior monk and a junior monk were traveling together. At one point, they came to a river with a strong current. As the monks were preparing to cross the river, they saw a very young and beautiful woman also attempting to cross. The young woman asked if they could help her.

The senior monk carried this woman on his shoulder, forded the river and let her down on the other bank. The junior monk was very upset, but said nothing.

They both were walking and senior monk noticed that his junior was suddenly silent and enquired “Is something the matter, you seem very upset?”

The junior monk replied, “As monks, we are not permitted a woman, how could you then carry that woman on your shoulders?”

The senior monk replied, “I left the woman a long time ago at the bank, however, you seem to be carrying her still.”

 

I don't think I'm in a position to tell you guys how you should interpret these things. WORDS AND LITERATURE IS YOURS TO INTERPRET!!! Understand it how you want to and express what you feel. 

 

Part 2: Hazy Days

It's highly unlikely that I am alone in this world with this feeling, but falling in love with someone or even liking someone makes me feel crazy. Anything I do in front of the person seems wrong for no particular reason. I watch him doing pretty much everything, and I guess this is just the feeling of fascination, the wanting to unravel the mysterious bubble around him. He's older - 3 years, and I keep telling myself that I have to face the facts. I'm too young for him, he probably doesn't even know my name ;( At the exactly same moment, the optimistic/fighty part of my brain disagrees and I end up just liking him more and more. The realisation is horrible, but the special even unique feeling inside when I see him makes me smile so much that I can't control myself. Butterflies in my stomach, never feeling hungry; you could say that this ''love'' for him is feeding me :) 

 

I realised I need to stop writing this because a) it's boring for you guys and b) I would never be able to finish... I could go on for eternity;)

 Emigrating to the UK, for me, sometimes feels like a curse (not that I have anything against England and English people). It's this feeling of never belonging, never feeling exactly right - always needing to compare the two different worlds.

That's why I decided to share with you guys, a debating speech I wrote earlier this year for school about this problem... *If you have your views MAKE SURE TO COMMENT BELOW & SHARE!

 The grass is always greener on the other side, isn't it? That's what I thought when I first saw the list of topics for this talk. I picked it for obvious reasons; because it seemed different, I had strong feelings about the matter and first hand experiences. 

 

I'm sure many of you here are immigrants, have friends that come from other countries, or are related to someone who is originally foreign. Every year, more and more people move to places like: America, the United Kingdom, Canada - countries that are more economically developed, that offer benefits, better wages, free healthcare and most importantly, a fresh start. It's normal to dream of a perfect home, perfect job, prefect LIFE! It might just be one step too far, to leap into the unknown in search of all these things. Nonetheless, many risk everything.

 

Everyone gets caught up by the illusion sometimes, whether it's because you feel that someone has a gadget 'you'd kill for ' or a glamorous mansion, let's face it; the other side of the fence may not be as green as it seems. The majority of people are stubborn enough to experience it first-hand- they have to learn through their mistakes. But what could we do to avoid this problem? It's hard enough being tempted by an illusion, let alone spending you life savings to immigrate to an 'out-of-this-world paradise'?

 

Wherever you travel in the world, the grass will always seem greener. This is  until reality hits - the bombshell you perpetually encounter!

 

There will be issues you had never considered before, for example: your child being bullied at school, knowing your way around town, or even helping your child with schoolwork- this may be a intricate activity, especially if you're not particularly great at English. Once you settle in the new environment, the truth unravels bit by bit. The cultural and language barriers are noticeable sooner or later. Many people I know that come from foreign countries all agree on this one, vital point; they often feel underestimated and lonely because of the language barrier - they don't have the courage to take a step forward and be bold, their afraid someone who's first language is English, will confront them and make them look like a complete fool. Some of you may not believe this, but it's true - communicating with a person from your native country, in your native language, isn't and will never, ever be the same as communicating with someone in your second language from a different country. I am aware that at the moment, the majority of you may by thinking that this is an extremely simple point, but think again. A large number of you have never had the opportunity to experience this first-hand, yet if you ask those who have; it's as if the way they've have been brought up, and the country in which they've set their roots in, determine how they feel when they talk to others.

 

We have many choices these days- a lot more than we did a hundred years ago. It's thanks to technology, the internet and improved society, our lifestyles have completely changed. I'm certain, my great great grandmother never even got a taster of the freedom we have in the 21st century. She married young, had five kids, cooked dinner, cleaned the cottage and the only entertainment she got, was an occasional gossip with the other housewives in the village. She worked hard all her life, never fulfilling her potential, never really having a career. There wasn't one day when she didn't struggle, her life was a never-ending maze of problems; poverty, lack of opportunity, repetitiveness, and boredom. There are moments when I wonder, if she ever dreamed of the greener side, of travelling into the unknown with just a single backpack. I have no doubt that she did, but then again, many parts of the world weren't as accessible back then.

 

Now we are free to do what we want after leaving school- go to university, establish our own businesses, serve clients on the other side of the world; the possibilities are countless.

 

But when there is a wealth of opportunities, choices, and places where we could choose to live, you’d think we’d all be happy, right? Wrong.

Haven't you ever noticed when you walk into a shop, have written a shopping list, and come out with more items then you originally planned to buy. Well, that's exactly like what the world offers now. The problem with having choices is that we become restless and indecisive. We can never settle with what we have and be satisfied. Once we're in, we're in for good. This is often referred to as 'the grass is always greener on the other side' syndrome. We make our lives miserable, because we feel that someone else's is better.

 

The only other component of the circuit, that weakens the battery is time. From a young age, we've always been taught that 'The World is our oyster'. There's always a sense of time pressure in everything we do, and the urgency in our decisions, often lead us to careless ones. This also blinds us. We can never really know how it feels to be on the other side unless we're there. That's why the disappointment is the end result, when the battery is out of power, when the illusion we've created looses the battle with reality.

 

It's only then that most of the human race, the ones that have the endless possibilities, the ones that live in a bubble, understand how lucky they really are, to have the people that love them around.

'The grass ain't always greener on the other side, it's green where you water it'. Some of you may have heard of this quote before, it most definitely tells us something about life. Don't expect the grass to be greener on the other side without any work. Reconsider you thoughts about others who are better of - they've watered their grass so it's YOUR TURN TO WATER YOURS!

Confussion...

Hi there everyone,
This may seem strange of me, but tears are pouring from my eyes right now. This feeling inside of me I cannot diagnose - I guess it's a mixture of wanting for someone, sadness, aggressiveness, madness, and happiness. If you want, you could probably call this the overload... point were...

I'm completely alone... No one is around me and my thoughts are exploding. One moment I think this, the other, I think that! It's very frustrating- and if you ever feel like this, please message me in on way or another, it would be great to talk to someone, just anyone really :) This is more of a personal post, than something that will ''enlighten'' you greatly - I'm sorry you guys.. I just feel like you need to know me as a person well, before I can get to the next stage of blogging..

 

Today, my day was very average, not to say the least. I went to school, then went out for a photo session with Gosia and that's pretty much it. Well I skipped the part about daydreaming - but come one, that's well too personal :)

I'm also extremely sorry for not writing for a whole week, but I decided I needed a bit of a break + I didn't have access to my laptop :( I don't know how, but I survived, and honestly, I think that it did me good being away from the computer.

A day like any other.

Hey you guys!

 

Today, I spent my day pretty basically. The typical daily routine:

Get up early for school (6:30)

• Walk to school in the pouring rain
• Almost fall asleep in school
• Hang out with my friends, after ''prison''. ;) (my favourite)

 

It was a completely spontaneous decision to go with Gosia and Ania into town. Actually, Ania and I ran after the tram to get Gosia :))) Earlier in the day, we decided to try out Bubble Tea! The tea, well was like tea, and a bit of a rip off - but hey! I need to try new things, right? I picked the lichi and lemon flavour. Made of a bit of a mistake taking the lemon; it made the mixture taste like the everyday drink.

The interior design of the place was fabulous!!! Just my style, and that's how I recently discovered it - just you know, casually walking by :) I guess that's how you explore new things - YOU SEE THEM, YOU WALK IN AND BAMMMM!!!! Great memories have been made today, and I'm glad for the first time this new school year, I felt like things with Gosia were back to normal:) I missed those times<3

Full of Emotions

Before I get all softy with you all, this is a warning, to those of you who wish not to continue... <3

Today I made a very important decision! It was difficult, spent about an hour crying over it yesterday - I got through it though! In spite of my fear, I decided to confess to my Religious Studies teacher that   I have 'faith' issues and that I don't actually attend Church and that I'm not doing my Confirmation. (You see in Poland, unlike in England, you don't get to learn about all the different religions of the world. It's because Poland is, let's put it this way, a 100% Chrisitian country and there's lots of pressure.) I even cried like a baby in front of her. She was kind and said that I must be very mature to have come to her to talk to her about it.
Afterwards, I felt like a stone had been lifted from the depths of my very tender heart. :) And boy, that's a good feeling...

It's a baby step forward for me... Like I mentioned before in my previous posts, you have to let yourself be different. The world belongs to these type of people, and if you want to belong - you have to do your part! I did mine and you do yours. The Three Sieves of Socrates

Mum was going through my shelf of  'wisdom' today and look what she found?

This was a present from her many years back. I thought it was useless at first, but soon enough I was captivated by it! I recommend it with all my heart and soul. It's in Polish (I'm Polish), however, I plan to post some of the most interesting philosophical stories/parables from this collection, so keep visiting... and if you have any questions about this topic, please comment:) I'm open about anything.

One day, the old, wise Socrates walked down the street when all of a sudden an agitated man run up to him yelling: "Socrates, Socrates! I have to tell you something about your friend! You will not believe what I just heard!"

"Hold it right there," Socrates interrupted him. "The story you're about to tell me... did you let it go through the three sieves?"

"Three sieves?" asked the astonished man. "What three sieves, Socrates?"

"Three sieves, my good man. Three sieves. Let's try it," said Socrates.

"The first sieve is the one of truth. Did you examine whether what you were about to tell me was true?" asked the philosopher.

"Well, no, not really. I just overheard the story and was in a hurry to tell you..." said the man.

"Ah! Well, then you must have used the second sieve, the sieve of good?" asked Socrates. "Is it something good that you are about to tell me?"

"Hm, no... on the contrary, my dear Socrates," answered the man.

"Hmmm" the wise man said. "Let us use the third sieve then, the sieve of necessity. Is it absolutely necessary for you to tell me what you are so exited about?"

"Now that I think of it... No, it's not necessary at all," said the man.

"Well," Socrates said with a smile "If the story you are about to tell me isn't true, good, or necessary, just forget it and don't bother me with it anymore."

 

 

Today's Topic:

1920's inspired films:

From the start, I promised you guys to be honest with you, and to show my true colours. So here it goes.

I've only recently discovered my love for the era of jazz - the 1920s. Ever since I was little, these songs always interested me and put a smile on my face, but now, at an age when I am beginning to discover myself and am full of curiosity, I want to search, search and search.

My ultimate dream is to visit Paris in the 1920s - speak with Ernest Hemmingway, Gertrude Stein and discuss with them works such as Picasso's. (If some of you have watched 'Midnight in Paris' directed by Woody Allen, you'll know where this wanting has derived from). To be in the company of rich aristocrats, small talking and keeping up the expectations a noble has. I think you get the picture ;)

An even more gobsmacking depiction of the 1920's is in my eyes 'The Great Gatsby'' (2013). I'm not one to judge the directing etc. because I haven't yet read the book and I'm halfway through the film, but some scenes were simply spectacular and have stuck in my mind with all the colours vivid and clear. If you haven't already, you guys should definitely buy the dvd or just download online.
Tip: Maybe reading the book would be a better idea first :)

Letting the world know the 'real' me.

 

It's a new day, a  relatively fresh start. I, as a born pessimist, have to stay positive. You see this is what happens at the beginning of the school year. A 14 year old is just bored with her life and need something to do - anything. (Please feel free to post any suggestions below). There are days once in a while, when I ponder other things until everything that seemed good to me seems bad. Weird right? That's the time when I try to be poetic, try to recreate the 1920's, 1930's... the era when artists drank and smoke for inspiration, the era when people didn't have a care in the world (at least this is my perception). Free and wild.

 

I don't know if this is just a stage in my life, and if other's my age have this ''symptom'' too, but often I have this need to accomplish something extraordinary, out of this world - way to ambitious for my capabilities. And deep inside my soul, I know that it won't happen though I still make plans and you know...

 

What I've decided just now, is that I need to find my own self, my own everything really. To be creative, find my own path and not follow others just to fit in. DIFFERNT = GOOD!

 

By this I mean the whole package:

 

• your personality
• your interests
• the way you dress
• the way you behave

 

 

 Interests

 Most of my friends and people my age are into having the coolest stuff and are really on top of the hottest trends. Unlike them, I don't feel the need to pay triple the price for things that are designer. Truthfully, it's totally absurd. To me it's as if all these people have bird-sized brains, they buy because they see, not because they want.

My top priority at the moment is to stand out from the crowd. This is just the right age to start out. 14 - perfect c:

 

For all of you guys out there that feel like you don't have stuff in common with anyone, maybe this is it! Maybe you'll see that's you're not alone; the truth is no one is. 

1. Jazz/Blues/Indie/ 60s If I were to sum up my favourite music genres they'd be these.

In Jazz I don't only love the instrumental parts, the sax, the trumpet and the piano, but the story it has to tell. Indie is the chill out type, good for relaxation and it's quite abstract. Blues was first introduced to me a few months back, my friend inspired me - I'm glad he did! 60s is quite a vague genre, not very specific. Most of those 10 years are full of amazing songs.     5. Fashion - it's girly and I like to look good, it's nothing new! I try to make my own style. In the future, I'll post some of my dream outfits, and some of my new purchases :)

 

    6. Art - not the drawing type (I'm hopeless at it). However, I love expanding my horizons and seeing exhibitons. My favourite artists include:

I assume that most of us have these days at some points in our life. It seems quite logical I guess... there's always a time when we feel sad, down or simply depressed. That's why I've made a step-by-step guide to keeping positive which will help both you and me.
Let's be honest with each other. If your one of those people who want to actually get to know the person WRITING THIS BLOG, then your in the right place because I plan to show my self as I really am - completely bare. So before I forget, here is the list as promised:

• BE POSITIVE!!!!! When you believe in yourself and you're able to cut yourself off from the outside world of injustice and nonstop criticism, just think and KEEP CALM! 



•  Forget about others and JUST BE YOURSELF FOR ONCE. The people around you are bound to notice you for who you really are, and you'll see how easy it is to chill for once and be able to express yourself.

• If you're bored, make sure you are never ever sitting at home alone! (That's the last thing you want to be doing!)

•  And lastly, it's not the end of the world if at this moment in time you are not accepted by ''society''. So head up, thumps up and you're ready to go. Just be PROUD OF YOURSELF AND ONLY THINK ABOUT YOU BECAUSE FRIENDS WON'T GET YOU ANYWHERE IN LIFE. (if you're a hater and gonna hate, you might as well comment below, it'll make me feel better, because I'll know someone has noticed me c: )

For now that's all I have to ''preach''. This is what will happen when I feel a bit down, I'll attempt to make myself feel better by ''preaching''. So brace yourself. Hopefully, tomorrow will be a fresh, new start.

Henna an Indian/Arabic Tradition

Towards the end of our beautiful times (the summer hols), I decided to be extravagant and get a henna tattoo. This is all my own work, done my hand by me - a complete amateur. This first originated in places like India and Pakistan, were the tradition still continue up to today:) It's part of their culture usually done before weddings and big ceremonies.
